-pituitary gland secretes FSH. this stimulates a follicle to grow

-this releasing a hormone oestrogen which thickens the endometrium, inhibits FSH and stimulates production of LH

-as follicle grows, oestrogen conc. is very high so LH is released in a surge from pituitary gland. LH brings about ovualation

-LH stimulates ruptured follicle to develop into a corpus luteum which secretes progesterone. progesterone inhibits LH and FSH and stimulates growth of blood vessels in endometrium

-LH is now inhibted so corpus luteum starts to degenerate. therefore it produces less progesterone

-fall of oestrogen and progesterone leads to menstruation

Now I learnt that Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone stimulates the release of LH and FSH and that GnRH is made in the hypothalamus. This was not in our textbook.

Now I understand that the Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) which is produced by the hypothalamus stimulates the release of LH and the FSH by the pituitary gland. I get the graph explained in this video, but it doesn’t match the one we have in the book.
